Big Sur Land Trust Unveils New Web Presence to Frame Freshly Defined Strategic Vision
Web site encapsulates expanded directive emphasizing five-part approach to re-engaging community with nature
Carmel, California – Feb 25, 2009
The Big Sur Land Trust, a 30-year-old community-based organization dedicated to sustaining the well-being of Monterey County’s unique natural and human communities, has launched a new website that reflects its reformulated vision outlining a broadened set of initiatives and increased community engagement.
In light of the growing environmental and socioeconomic challenges that threaten the delicate balance of the region’s ecology, The Big Sur Land Trust has invested considerable time and gathered extensive community input over the past 4 years to re-purpose and re-evaluate its role in local conservation efforts. The result is a new organizational vision and a fresh set of core values to spearhead ongoing activities and programs.
The Big Sur Land Trust’s vibrant new website, designed by Full Steam Marketing & Design of Salinas, California, captures the diverse natural beauty of Monterey County’s rich landscapes and the five pillars of focus supporting the organization’s long-term vision:
- Healthy communities
- Ecological health
- Stewardship of resources
- Youth and education
- Durable local economy
“The Big Sur Land Trust has been preserving the natural assets of Monterey County for 30 years,” said William Leahy, Executive Director of The Big Sur Land Trust. “Our goal for the next 30 years is to extend the scope of our work with a more holistic initiative focused on community collaboration and strategic partnerships to drive broader, more expansive conservation programs. Full Steam Marketing & Design has helped us create a Web presence that visually celebrates our landscapes, while at the same time sharing stories of our work that we hope stimulates new and exciting conservation partnerships.”
A key driver behind The Big Sur Land Trust’s shift in focus is the recognition that its mission requires increased participation and support from all community constituents – children and youth, individuals and community groups, landowners, business and commerce. The Big Sur Land Trust intends to leverage its new Web presence to educate, advise and engage with the community at all levels to ensure conservation and enjoyment of our region’s natural resources becomes a common purpose for everyone.
